Melia Repko-Schmauk, HarpistMelia Repko-Schmauk began playing the harp at an early age in Mystic, CT. She went on to receive her Masters degree from New England Conservatory and a Bachelors degree with honors from Peabody Conservatory. While living in Boston , she premiered and recorded works by John Harbison, Gardiner Read, Roy Harris, Michael Colgrass and Malcom Peyton. Composers Elliot Carter, Earl Kim and Gunther Schuller have coached her in performances of their works. She also worked closely with Daniel Pinkham, who dedicated his work, Divertimento for Trumpet and Harp to Melia and her husband, trumpeter Alex Schmauk. As a freelancer, Melia has performed extensively throughout New England . Her engagements include an appearance as a soloist at a reception for President Clinton at the esteemed Thoreau Institute. She is now a resident of Dresher , PA and works with many local orchestras including the Delaware Symphony and the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia . In addition, Melia frequently performs with flutist Elizabeth Sweitzer in their duo, the Amadeus Duo. Melia regularly plays at functions at the Ritz Carlton, Four Seasons and other facilities in the Philadelphia area. She also enjoys teaching harp privately and at the Community Music School in Trappe , PA. Alex Schmauk, TrumpeterAlex Schmauk has been playing the trumpet since the age of nine. He was inspired at an early age to become a professional under the tutelage of Bill Grande. Alex has received his Masters degree from New England Conservatory and his Bachelors degree from Peabody Conservatory. Alex has participated in the Fellowship program of the Tanglewood Music Center in Lenox , MA . While there, Alex performed the Leonore trumpet call under the baton of Maestro Seiji Ozowa. He has also attended the National Repertory Orchestra in Breckenridge , CO and the National Orchestral Institute in Collegeville , MD. While living in Boston , Daniel Pinkham dedicated his Divertimento for Trumpet and Harp to Alex and his wife, harpist Melia Repko-Schmauk. Currently, Alex lives in Dresher , PA and is associate principal trumpet with the Greater Trenton Symphony Orchestra. He also freelances in the Philadelphia area with local orchestras and performs with his brass quintet, the Alexander Brass Quintet. Elizabeth SweitzerElizabeth Sweitzer began playing the flute in Bethlehem, PA when she was 8 years old. Inspired and encouraged by her teacher, Robin Kani, she auditioned for the Juilliard School at age 15 and was accepted into their Preparatory Program. After Juilliard, Elizabeth pursued her Bachelor of Music degree at the Oberlin Conservatory where she studied with renowned French flutist, Michel Debost. She then went on to earn her Masters degree in Music from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. While in San Francisco, Elizabeth performed and taught extensively in the Bay Area. In addition to frequent solo and chamber music performances, she played with the San Francisco Concerto Orchestra, San Francisco’s Pocket Opera, and the Modesto Symphony. She also taught both flute and chamber music at a variety of San Francisco venues, including: the San Francisco Community Music School, the Crowden School, and the Inner City Young Musicianship Program. After moving to the Philadelphia Area, Elizabeth has continued her work as a freelance musician and teacher. She has given solo and chamber music recitals at a number of local establishments, including Moravian College’s Payne Hall, Ursinus College’s Bomberger Hall, and the Four Seasons in Philadelphia. She has also taught flute and coached chamber music at the Settlement Music Schools in Jenkintown, West Philadelphia and Center City. Currently, Elizabeth lives in Chester County. She freelances locally and performs frequently with harpist, Melia Repko-Schmauk in the Amadeus Duo. In addition to performing with her duo, Elizabeth enjoys playing with a variety of chamber ensembles, including: flute and piano; flute and violin, and cello; and flute and guitar. She also teaches the flute and coaches a flute ensemble at the Community Music School in Trappe, Stephanie Coyle TwohigStephanie Coyle Twohig has enjoyed singing for as long as she can remember. After having grown up in Flourtown , PA she attended Chestnut Hill College where she received her Bachelors degree in Music Education with a concentration in Vocal Performance. At Chestnut Hill College, Stephanie studied voice with Doris Schmauk, the mother of Alex, Angelic Instruments’ trumpet player. Some of the operas and operettas she performed in were The Songs of Norway, The Red Mill, La Perichole, Die Fledermaus, and the Telephone. Members of Angelic Instruments are available for private teaching.
